Hi! I’m Emma a Brighton based blogger, photo-taker, baby maker and extremely over proud parent to two cheeky little angels Ettie (2.5) and Ollie (6 months) – or Arrietty and Oliver if we want to be formal about it!
I started the blog back in 2017 as a way to record my memories of our daughter Ettie. Going back to work after maternity leave hit me harder than I expected and I found writing to be a therapeutic outlet and way to make sense of my feelings.
Since then my blog and my family have grown. We’ve welcomed our little Ollie into the fold and my blog has evolved into a space where I can cover other passions such as travel, fashion and interiors. In early 2019 I decided it was time to embrace this evolution and re-branded my blog away from its original title “Ettie and Me” to its current guise of “The Halcyon Years“.
The Halcyon Years is a lifestyle blog covering all aspects of parenting in the modern day world. I like to think of it as a space we can sit down and have a chat about the things we love – virtually from the comfort of our sofa. Whether that be at the end of a long and exhausting day with two over-excited children, or over lunch in the office with a proper hot coffee. The Halcyon Years is a place for everyone and I really hope you enjoy hanging out here.
I’m based in Brighton but originally from Cumbria and worked for a couple of years in Zante too (still holding onto that dream!) 😉
Thank you for stopping by, I love to hear your thoughts so feel free to comment.
