Hi! I’m Emma a Brighton based blogger, who loves taking photos and chatting about things I’ve found that I think others will like. Im also one of two extremely over proud parents to two cheeky little angels Ettie (2.5) and Ollie (6 months) – or Arrietty and Oliver if we want to be formal about it!
I started the blog back in 2017 as a way to record my memories of our daughter Ettie. Going back to work after maternity leave hit me harder than I expected and I found writing to be a therapeutic outlet and way to make sense of my feelings.
Since then my blog and my family have grown. We’ve welcomed our little Ollie into the fold and my blog has evolved into a space where I can cover other passions such as travel, fashion and interiors. In early 2019 I decided it was time to embrace this evolution and re-branded my blog away from its original title “Ettie and Me” to its current guise of “The Halcyon Years“.
The Halcyon Years is a lifestyle blog covering all aspects of parenting in the modern day world. I like to think of it as a space where my readers and I can sit down and have a chat about the things we love – virtually from the comfort of our sofa or desk. The Halcyon Years is a place for everyone and I really hope you enjoy hanging out here.
I’m based in Brighton but originally from Cumbria and worked for a couple of years in Zante too (still holding onto that dream!) 😉
This blog has given me the opportunity to work with some amazing brands such as Boden, Orelia, Soho Home and Taf Toys. If you wish to collaborate feel free to get in touch via emma@thehalcyonyears.commailto emma@thehalcyonyears.com
I love to hear your thoughts so feel free to comment.
Hi: I came across your blog while searching the web and was very surprised to see the title. It is almost the same as my recently published book “My Halcyon Years” which you can read about on Amazon or on my website. From your pictures I would say that you are probably at least three times younger than I am (86) and much more tech savvy. You have a lovely blog and I hope it is successful and satisfying for you. I have a blog too (since 2006) but it is entirely different … just small vignettes of memories of a long life. It’s called Goldendaze-Ginnie and I love the people that I’ve met through it. However my real thrill was finally putting pen to paper and seeing my book in print. I have been pleased with the reviews and am so glad that I got it all out before my memories start to fade. I wish you all the best with your blog and with your sweet little girls.
