For the past few months I’ve been posting a roundup of my top five Instagram photos and its proven to be so popular that I’ve decided to make it into a monthly IG hashtag series called Magic Monthly Squares.
If you’d like to take part then please tag your top five Instagram photos from the previous month with the hashtag #magicmonthlysquares and tag me @emmafaith_x on Instagram. At the end of each month I’ll pick a few favourites and share them here on my blog, then hopefully we can build up a little community and share the monthly love.
But why…? Well taking the time do to a monthly roundup can be really rewarding. A lot can happen over the course of a month and I’ve found that when I look back over the images I’ve posted, it can feel like an eternity since the first one was taken. A monthly roundup is a great way to reflect over what’s happened and also pay attention to the posts which done particularly well.
It’s also a really fun thing to do and if you’re a blogger and choose to make you’re selection into a blog post (like me) a round up is a great way to provide a little insight to the thinking behind your squares. Often a lot of thought goes into planning your Instagram feed and sometimes the stories behind the photos are just as interesting as the captions!
We’ll November has been pretty quiet for us, we’ve been doing a lot of work on the house, trying to get a few rooms semi-finished before Christmas so that’s been keeping Stu occupied most weekends. That said, we have had a few adventures, including a day trip to Washbrooks Farm in Sussex and a lovely family day out to Brighton Pier, which I know isnt exacly a million miles away from where we live, but it always has such a holiday vibe to it, it felt like we were on holiday anyway
My Top 5 Instagram Photos from November 2017
I’ve spoken about this elsewhere on the blog but my husband plays cricket every weekend throughout the summer months, therefore whilst we’ve had our house for almost 9 months now, we’ve made very little progress on it since June. With the cricket season finally finishing last month, it’s been full steam ahead to try and get the kitchen finished off and this month we’ve managed to get it tiled, painted and have the lights fitted under the units. This has made such a massive difference and I can really feel things starting to come together.
In fourth place is this animated image of Ettie playing with some water on our recent trip to Stockholm. I loved the photo anyways because I love the cheeky look in her eyes and the way she’s so excited by such a simple thing, but I think the magic of the water running really makes the image pop. I’ve been on the look out for more photos where I can use the same effect, but so far I haven’t found any that will work quite as well. Maybe watch this space over the month of December where I’m sure there will be lots of Christmas magic dotted about 🙂
Speaking of magic, in third place I have this image of Ettie and I reading a story at bedtime. She had new slippers on, bought as a present from her Gran Gran and it was such a cute moment so I snapped a little photo from above. I added the sparkle to reflect the magic of a bedtime story then loved the image so much I decided to use it as the logo for this series.
In second place is this retro image of Ettie taken around 9 months ago. As the caption says, it reminds me of such a happy time. Just the two of us together in our little old flat, hiding inside from the wet weather. She looks really glum but I think its because she was a little bored of being stuck inside. She hadn’t learned to crawl at that stage so there wasn’t much mischief she could get up to. I love how I can tell exactly what she is thinking, just by reading her face. She’s always been full of the most amazing expressions, Hopefully this will help me read her when she’s older too.
And finally in first place from November 2017 is this cheeky photo of the two of us in our new red coats taken at Brighton Pier. I love this photo for two reasons, firstly if you zoom in really closely you’ll see Ettie is actually saying ‘cheeese’ to the camera. Haha! Its something shes just started to do this month and whilst its very funny, it also makes me feel a little guilty that perhaps I take too many photos of her! I also love the fact that were in Brighton, our home town! The pier is such a magical place but it can get so crowded in the summer, at this time of year in the winter when all the crowds have gone home, the locals take it back again and there’s nothing better.
So there you have it, my top five Instagram photos from November. Did you have a favourite? If you’re not already following me on Instagram, you can find us at www.instagram.com/emmafaith_x and if you’d like to see more you can check out August, September and Octobers top five too.
