For the past few months I’ve been posting a round up of my top five Instagram photos from the previous month and its been quite popular. I think it gives readers a chance to catch up on the photos they might have missed and it gives me a change to look back over the month which I really enjoy doing. We’re so busy sorting out the house at the moment it feels like time is evaporating, so its nice to sit back and take stock once a month to look over all that we’ve done. A month really isn’t that long, but when I look back over the months photographs, it seems like an eternity since the first one was posted!
So with that in mind, lets take a look at October! Well October happens to be one of my favourite months because it kicks off with my birthday. To celebrate this year, we took Ettie on her first little mini break to Europe and spent a lovely four days walking around Stockholm. I’m completely behind on my blogging and have a half finished post about our trip sitting idly in my drafts box. Hopefully i’ll get round to finishing it off in the next few weeks. Needless to say we had an amazing time and it was so lovely to spend some quality time together as a family. October was a great month for holidays actually as shortly after we returned from Stockholm, I went on a fabulous weekend break with the girls to Paris. You can read more about that here.
My Top 5 Instagram Photos from October 2017
Aside from gallivanting around Europe, we’ve yet again made great use of our National Trust memberships visiting Nymans and Sheffield Park in Sussex. October is a beautiful month which sees the leaves on the trees transforming into a plethora of incredible oranges, reds and yellows. Ettie and I have been on a couple of scavenger hunts picking out the prettiest leaves – so much so that she now thinks its OK to go along and take leaves from every botanical item she sees! My fifth favourite post this month was this image of our autumn swag from Sheffield Park. I absolutely love the range of colours mother nature provides and I think others felt the same:
In fourth place is this picture of two white bunnies which I posted to inform people of the article I wrote for Babyloss Awareness week 2017. Baby loss awareness week runs from the 9th – 15th October each year. Its an important week for us because we’ve lost two babies in the past. Our first daughter Edie was born at 21 weeks in May 2015. I haven’t really been able to talk about it until this year, but I wanted to share her story to help other Mums who may be going through a similar situation. The picture is particularly poignant for me as it shows the white bunny we bought for Edie and a similar bunny which was bought for Ettie when she was born. We keep both bunnies in Ettie’s cot and call them Edie Rabbit and Ettie Rabbit xx
In third place I have this image of Stu throwing Ettie in the air in the Djurgården area of Stockholm. It was a lovely evening and we were walking round the island taking in the last of the evening sun, when I turned around and there was the most inedible sunset, the sea was so calm and the air was so clear. Stu had Ettie in his arms at the time and he threw her in the air. It was one of those lovely holiday moments caught on camera and I love that you can vaguely pick out her little happy face in the photo, even though its in silhouette.
In second place is another one from Stockholm and its this one of Ettie pulling her little shocked face in the Galma Stan (Old Town) area of the city. I cant even remember what she was so shocked about, but I just love how cheeky she looks, especially with her little pigtails. She’s a little rascal for sure.
And finally in first place from October 2017 is perhaps one of my favourite photos of Ettie of all time. I wasn’t going to post it at first as there isn’t much else going on in the photo, but every time I scrolled past it on my phone I couldn’t help but chuckle at her little face so up it went. She was pretending to be shocked at all the leaves falling from the trees, again in Stockholm. She doesn’t have a coat on because she kept running around and taking it off! Her little personality is really coming into its own now. I love how she’s standing on her little tippy toes too.

What a heartfelt collection of photographs, especially the white bunny rabbits. Since I’ve started ‘hobby blogging’ about motherhood I’ve come across so many families that have lost children. One of my friends has recently suffered a loss of a childand from reading about it, I feel better placed to help her. Thank you for sharing, it has made a difference. #HoneybeeLinky
