One step closer to Adulthood {Joining the National Trust}

National Trust Membership cardboard box

After spending upwards of £70 on days out over the last couple of weeks, we finally made the commitment towards real adulting this weekend and purchased our National Trust memberships!

It’s something we’ve been aware of for a while … you know, that we were maybe nearing ‘that age’ but we fought it, gripping onto the clutches of youth with our fingernails and avoiding all such places while we tried to fit in as many trips to the beach as possible!

But actually, now that we’ve made the commitment, I’m quite excited about it! We pay £9 a month which is cheap as chips really and you get a little guide book and map listing all the places which you’re now free to explore!!

Not only is it worth it for the huge car park savings, but it also provides a handy ready-made ‘to do’ list for those Sundays when you aren’t really sure what to do but want to do something!!

As a family we love to get out and explore, and I absolutely love the romance of old buildings so now that we’ve made the leap, I’m not sure why its taken us so long! Most properties have a restaurant or cafe, baby change facilities and pushchair-friendly walks so I’d be more than happy to take Ettie on my own. But they are also beautiful places to spend the weekend as a family and feel safe that Ettie can run around and explore without being trampled by a stray bike!

There’s also an app making it super easy to find your nearest National Trust site if your away in a new location on holiday and you can use to to record the places you’ve been. I’m a bit geeky with things like that and love nothing more than adding pins to my travel map – so this feature makes me happy!

So goodbye boozy picnics, weekend city breaks and Sundays spent nursing a hangover in bed, a new life awaits!! At the ripe old age of 30 somethings we are ready to get that car sticker proudly in our window and embrace our new National Trust membership status!

Come forth old houses, pretty gardens and woodland walks, the Faith family are ready for you! You can see some of our other visits to National Trust sites below;
